Many
might wonder why, out of all the ways out there to contribute to the
fight against Breast Cancer, we picked Tomboy Tools. The answer though
is quite simple. After doing much research into the side affects and
emotional strain put on individuals with Breast Cancer and their families,
it was evident that a great amount of power and self confidence is
lost. Women come out feeling beaten, bruised and even defected, as
if they were no longer women. This was seen in many cases when a woman's
path to battling the cancer included breast biopsy. These women and
men no longer have any control of their bodies; their fate is in the
hands of a deadly cancer. We wanted to bring some of this power and
control back; Tomboy Tools was our answer.
Tomboy
Tools is a tool company who designs tools for women by women. These
tools are specially made to appreciate the size of an average women's
hand and design the tools for it. The company is funded and run by
women whose main goal is to empower other women. They took one step
closer to this goal by making a new commitment to the Komen Foundation
this past year. Designing a new pink hammer and pink traveler, Tomboy
Tools has committed to donate a percentage of each sell back to the
Komen Foundation. The Komen Foundation is one of the leading supporters
and contributors to Breast Cancer Research. Tomboy Tools is making
a big commitment by starting this new campaign and we hope to carry
and support it here at Allegheny.
