the fifth.....
this week's sunday morning included stories about solar powered homes, Takashi Murakami, a review of the movie 'Bee Movie," the LIDO, and meteorites....
Overall, I really didn't enjoy this week's episode. The segments seemed blanded and unappealing. I guess I can see the relevancy of some of the segments, such as the repair in space and the 'Bee Movie' review, but it just seemed boring....
The solar homes story was probably my favorite. I wish the U.S. incorporated solar and wind energy more into everyday life. I remember visiting Case Western Reserve University, back when I wasn't sure where I was going, and seeing the dorms use solar energy and run-off rain water as a part of their campus. It's such a cool idea. I wish our campus did that....
Takashi Murakami is an up-and-coming new artist that creates really weird works of art. It basically looked like a weird acid trip, but I suppose it is revolutionary...I didn't really like it. All of his creations were really demented. I normally love things that are twisted, like the 'Nightmare before Christmas,' but these pieces of art were too colorfully to be cool and sinister....below is a link to his website, where you can see his art...
The 'Bee Movie' looks terrible. I've never really liked 'Seinfeld,' and the movie didn't even seem to appeal to me in the way that 'Finding Nemo' did. It just looked like a lame kids' movie. BUT I loved the fact that they mentioned bees are in danger of extinction! I really wish more people were aware of this and took action....
The LIDO segment was the WORST part of Sunday Morning. It tied along greatly with my commentary; providing ANOTHER example of senseless female objectification and toplessness. David Turecamo, the interviewer, barely tried to make an arguement for doing the segment, aside from getting backstage to see the ladies, which he even mentioned as a motive of his for doing the segment. There seemed to be no rhyme nor reason for the caberat show to even exist. One of the female dancers even pointed out how impersonally the director selected a few of them to be nude....
The last semi-interesting segment was about meteorites. Apparently, they can be really expensive, which seems to me kind of dumb. They are, after all, just rocks that fell from the sky. Not that I don't appreciate seeing 'shooting stars' at night...but would you really pay that much for a rock? Below is a site where you can see them...

i agree with the meteorites, I just find it so astonishing that people spend the amount of money they do on items of such little importance. They said that there was a meteorite that hit a cow, and that meteorite would sell for 100,000 dollars today. I think it is idiotic to buy such a useless thing, if there are people willing to spend money on things such as meteorites, then why don’t more people donate their money to a noble cause?
