Reviews: Matcha Tutorial

Posted by Pat on 2009-05-29 13:15:58 EDT

I've been meaning to do Matcha on the show for quite some time, but am not well versed in the art....

Luckily, there are many many videos for those of you who have never learned or seen this practice. I found a good tutorial on NM Tea Company's blog. Embedded below, hope you enjoy it!

Reviews: TeaCast Prep #19: Kalahari Organic Energy Citron Oolong (bagged)

Posted by Pat on 2009-04-06 22:28:48 EDT

Citron Oolong by Kalahari info:

Steep Recommendations:
3-5 Minutes

Ingredients:
Organic Oolong, Eleuthro Root, Guarana, and Organic Bergamot Flavor.

Opinion:
Obviously I haven't had it yet, but I can't say I am a fan of Guarana in my tea. I am not looking for energy, but for those who are this might be the fuel you need!

Reviews: Grounds for Change "Darjeeling"

Posted by Pat on 2009-03-26 18:41:37 EDT

In honor of getting a free cup of tea at the student run coffee place, I decided to just go ahead and review it, no matter how strange I look in this place.

I had the option of choosing either loose leaf or bagged, and obviously I picked the former and not the latter. Usually I do not visit this place, as it somehow reminds me of a bohemian hangout, a place where I would fear there would not being any outgoing individuals or I would not fit into the clique! Anyways, let's rate this damn tea!

Knowing it or not these people in here are getting a nonverbal TeaCast.... haha nice.

Smell:
At first "glance" of the smell, it is not THAT appealing, it simply smells like "old tea" dare I say. Absolutely vegetal.

Taste:
Hard to say. Let me drink it some more.... Kind of bites my mouth in a weird manner. Pretty bland if I do say so myself. It seems as if this tea from the giant jar has been sitting there for far longer than it should, yet it doesn't taste terrible. This is the kind of thing that your grandma would make for you, and you would drink it because though it isn't bad, you more or less want to please grandma. Not a bad reason if you think about it. My other Darjeelings have a lot more flavor than this one, and aren't as stale at all.

Overall:
Though I love to support my campus and the local Allegheny economy, I am sorry to say that I will be bringing my own tea from now on, though the barista who served it to me was most kind. Then again, free isn't bad, right?
