The Allegheny Review, now going into its 27th year of
publication, is one of America's
few nationwide literary magazines dedicated exclsuively to undergraduate
works of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and art. Published annually,
the periodical showcases some of the best literature the nation's
undergraduates have to offer.

The 2009 deadline is:
December 15, 2008
Genre Guidelines: (Click here to download and print the guidelines)
- Prose: Not to exceed 20 pages, double-spaced
- Poetry: up to 5 poems
- Artwork: up to 20 pieces
- The award winners in poetry and prose will be selected by
a professional writer (excluding artwork). The judges will be announced in
the Fall.

undergraduate students only
Submission Information:
- Submissions must be postmarked no later than December
15, 2008.
- $5 entry fee required. Make checks payable to The
Allegheny Review. The entry fee covers a one year subscription to The
Allegheny Review and makes submissions eligible for The Allegheny
Review Literature Award. Entries without checks will not be
considered for an award.
- All work must be submitted in typed hard copy and on a
CD-R or floppy disk. Please submit in Word (.doc) format.. Art work may be
on disk (minimum resolution of 300) or in a format that permits scanning.
- Please also include a cover letter containing name,
address, and school name, in addition to pertinent experience and previous
publications. A short bio paragraph about of yourself is also helpful.
- For a faster response, include your e-mail address.
- Please include a SASE.
- Artwork can be returned, but manscripts cannot. Those
not published will be recycled.
