Minutes: Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Those in attendance: Kelsey Mitchell, Ryann Wahl, Heather Balas, Jessica Dipietro, Amanda Edwards, Bonnie Cross, Heidi Keppen, Jessica Wison, Megan Coffey, Sarah Raley, Lisa Smith

What we discussed:

1: The APO Dance-a-thon is coming up: November 21st, and our half hour goes from 4:30-5 PM. If you have not signed up, you can do so anytime. Contact George Swinston to do so. Also, if you are signed up, the cost is $5, so you can turn that in anytime to George, but it is not needed until the actual event, so as long as you get it in sometime, you're good.

2: The induction ceremony will take place sometime after Thanksgiving Break.

3: We were thinking of doing a movie (Girl Interrupted) sometime in November on either a Tuesday or Thursday in the evening. Of course, there would be free food... :)

What we talked about:

1. A group of people were interested in going to Conneaut Lake for their Halloween stuff soon, so a trip was planned. Deanna Leyh organized this event.

2. We are continuing to recruit people to sign up for the APO Dance-a-thon. The cost will definitely not exceed $5 per person. George Swinston is the go-to person for this event.

3. We reminded everyone that the graduate school panel is this Friday, October 23rd at lunch. A snack will be provided, and professors will talk about grad school information, etc.

Thanks to everyone who came!

Minutes: Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Those in attendance: Jenn Landolina, Ryann Wahl, Jessica Dipietro, Jessica Minsterman, Serenity McCarthy-Arnone, Natasha Beatty, Heather Balas, Abbe Machi, Rebecca Lendyak, Laura Bromley, Lexie Kane, Melissa Bromley

What we covered:
1. People signed up to talk to their psych classes about Psi Chi applications

2. There will be a grad school panel with several psychology and neuroscience professors on Friday, October 23rd from 12 noon - 1 or 1:20 PM in CC 301/302. Bring your own lunch, but cookies and cider will be provided for refreshments! Rebecca Lendyak volunteered to make flyers for the event. Thanks Rebecca!!! :)

3. We discussed trying to bring a speaker about stress disorders, etc, in order to spark interest in a support group for those on campus who have anxiety or stress and are having trouble dealing with it. This will be discussed more in the future...

4. We are trying to get a group together to participate from 4:30-5 PM on Saturday November 21st in the Shake it up Dance-a-thon. Psi Chi will be working with Neuro Club and Psych club, and if there are enough people signed up, the cost should be less than $5 per person. No matter what, the cost would not be above $5 and with that, you get a t-shirt, free pizza, and opportunities to win really cool raffle prizes! George Swinston is coordinating the group <swinstg>. All proceeds are donated to Autism Outreach of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

5. Some ideas for events for Halloween were tossed around, including carving pumpkins for professors and making caramel apples!! Yum! Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!

6. Pins and certificates were passed out to those who were supposed to receive them.

Free food and fun will be provided!!

Directions:
(please make carpooling arrangements with your friends!)

From Campus…. down the hill (either Main St. or Park Ave sides)…turn right at the first stop sign or light onto Baldwin St….this is also Rte 19W/6N…travel about three miles to Saegertown…thru Saegertown …turn left on Rte 198 (west)…this crosses French Creek….1.6 miles later you will see signs for I-79 and a sharp left hand turn
(this is actually a crossroads)… go straight ahead rather than taking the left…this is Brookhouser Road. In about 1 mile take the first available right turn on to Hites Road. As you drive on Hites road you will pass through a farmyard…barns on both sides…100 yds ahead , take the first available right turn onto Pond Road… (the sign may be gone) my driveway is the second on the right which is marked by a Black mailbox and a green Tribune paper tube….turn right onto the driveway and follow it to the brick house….you’re there! Lost?? 763-5826 will get you directions.

Hopefully, we'll have a great sunny day! But even if it's raining, the picnic will still be at the farm. Also, be sure to thank Dr. Cross for his hospitality.

We hope to see you there!!
