If
not, then only for a whisper
She exhales, deeply
pressing her fingers into my palms.
She tells me I'm needed by the way she sighs, holding me by my hand
I am in awe when I feel her heart moving in rhythm along with mine
She rests upon me, mildly closes her eyes, and looks to me for support
I'm guided by the way she touches my back, and her silence impresses me.
She moves to me and embraces me; she tells me I can sleep now.
And the silence that the night brings innocence, is me in nightmare,
And my flesh is broken, and my sinew is torn from me,
when I must whisper, and fuck sorrow, and push the blade.
I ask her never to lay her hands upon me again.
