About Allegheny Fencing The Allegheny Fencing Club has about 25 active members, consisting of students, faculty and staff, and members of the Meadville community. The club is a member of the Western Pennsylvania division of the United States Fencing Association (USFA) and members fence in USFA sanctioned tournaments in Meadville, Pittsburgh, Youngstown, Cleveland, Kent, Oberlin, and Erie. Currently, the group fences foil and epee. Although we encourage committed fencers to purchase their own gear, the club has equipment to help new fencers get started. We meet two days a week in the Wise Center Dance Studio. Each practice includes group drills, one-on-one lessons, and practice bouts. Fencers of all ability levels ages 16 and up are welcome to our practices. If you've never held a foil before or if you are a fencing master, please come join us!
Younger Fencers The Allegheny Fencing Club is not able to accomodate fencers under the age of 16 except under exceptional circumstances. Please contact Tomas Nonnenmacher tnonnenm@allegheny.edu if you would like more information. If you would like to learn more about fencing, we recommend the Fencing Institute of America. The Fencing Institute has weekend classes that are specifically designed for nurturing younger fencers. |
