Allegheny College Equestrian Team

Allegheny College is committed to helping students discover and develop new areas of interest as well as providing opportunities for students to participate in activities that they have enjoyed prior to coming to college. Whether you've been in the saddle since you were too short to reach the stirrups or your feet have never left the pavement, Allegheny College is a great place for both new and experienced equestrians.

This year, the Allegheny College Equestrian Team will be offering weekly and twice-weekly lessons at the Willows Equestrian Center in Erie, Pa. Lessons are available in packages by semester for beginner through advanced riders. Check your e-mail for information on the team's first meeting.

The team will also be competing in on the IHSA circuit as part of Zone III, Region III (see www.ihsa.com for more information). Riders of all levels are able to compete and unlike most other horse shows, riders do NOT need to own their own horse. Shows are held at various colleges within the region and the school that hosts the show provides the horses, allowing all interested students the opportunity to compete.

Also this year, the ACET plans to host two fall trail rides at the Flying W Ranch for interested Allegheny students who may not want to ride regularly but who would love to spend a day out on the trails.

Finally, the ACET will be sponsoring the Hog Heaven animal rescue farm through both volunteering and financial support. Volunteers are always welcome at the farm regardless of experience, any time that you would be able to give would be greatly appreciated.
