young eagles
Each year EAA 1194 sponsers several Young Eagles days at Port Meadville Airport. Chapter
members donate their time and aircraft to introduce young people between the ages of 8
and 18 to the world of flight. This is part of the national EAA's Young Eagle program.
The flights are free of charge. Upon completion of short ground school session on
aviation, youngsters will be given a ride in a members aircraft and will have a chance
to actually control the aircarft in flight. Participants will be awarded a certificate
noting their achievement and will be listed in the worlds largest logbook on display at
the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, WI. Advance registration is required and spaces
are limited. Contact Delmar Preston, EAA 1194 Young Eagles Director, at (814) 425-2495
for more information.

Scholarships
Each year the Chapter gives away a scholarship of at least $100 to an area youth who has
an interest in pursuing an aviation oriented career. Our last two recipients were Bob Sheets
who is now attending Embry Riddle University in Florida and Gregory Nageotte a senior at
Maplewood High School. Greg plans to follow a career with NASA and hopes one day to be involved
in the space program. Congratulations to Greg and good luck.
Applications are due at the beginning of March each year.
