Personal Collections Policy

In support of Personal Collections, the Digital Asset Management group will create and encourage the use of Recommended Best Practices.

Personal Collections should be used for college-related needs. They are not intended for truly "personal" needs such as family photos, etc.

A set of metadata templates will be available for use in Personal Collections.

Users are encouraged to share their Personal Collections with others in the College.

At the end of the first year of Luna use (Summer 2007), DAM will assess the use of personal collections and may recommend changes to this policy, including but not limited to limits on size, requests that some collections be moved to College Collections or otherwise shared.

Personal Collections will consist of set-up, instruction from OET and other staff, instructional materials, and occasional consultation on technical issues.

Personal Collections are kept on the Allegheny server so long as an individual is associated with the College. If you need to transport your Personal Collection consult your appropriate technical support person.
