I would be more than willing to work with area students
and/or teachers for any grade level from elementary school through high school on programs
related to either of two topics:  the development of programming skills and problem-solving
using computers;  media-arts programs with computer art, animation, or game-design as
their focus.  I would be especially happy to work with art teachers at any level about the latter;
there is excellent software and pedagogy for teaching animation and game-design skills to young
children; similarly, there are excellent resources available for teaching programming and
problem-solving skills to children.

I've been extremely interested in working with the schools on some media literacy project(s) and have been wondering where to begin in terms of making contact.

Communication Arts

Any projects that were focused on creativity & imagery, language development (first or second), or memory development (e.g., working memory skills & math) would be of interest.  I also have access to a line of research about developing problem solving skills and analogical reasoning by fostering the process of incubation and insight in the classroom.

Thanks,

Aimee Knupsky, Ph.D.

I am willing to be listed.
Ann M. Kleinschimdt, topics, liveliness of plants, plant biochemistry, plant molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, using the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) to search for genomics information, science project collaboration between senior research students and high school students.

Thanks for the inquiry -- I've always wondered how to get involved, but have never had a particularly good idea for a project.  Suffice it to say I would be very interested in assisting with most any theatre-centered project.  I've assisted two seniors from MASH with their senior project - directing a theatrical production - and it has been most rewarding.  But I would like to get involved more closely with students at an earlier level, introduction to theatre movement or appreciation, and at a higher level of dramaturgy, costuming, etc.  So if anything comes up, please call upon me to be a helper!

I think my office (Conference & Event Services) should, in fact, be involved.  We offer programs for teachers through the music festival and our Advanced Placement Summer Institutes.  As you may have heard, I have resigned from my position as director of CES, effective January 13, 2006, so I hesitate to have you list me as a contact person.  Would it be possible to list us simply as the following until a replacement for me has been hired?

I'm thinking I'd like to do something with figure skating.  I should talk to you and perhaps also to Jan Hyatt (possibly linking it with existing Arts Immersion program).

Thanks for your email - I am very interested in collaborating with Crawford Central.  I've been doing several classroom visits each year to elementary schools in the area on topics related to water, minerals, dinosaurs, and the environment.  I've found that although the elementary teachers are provided with a science "curriculum" they are pretty much left on their own to make it work.  Aside from continuing to visit classrooms I would be very interested in helping to organize some sort of regular workshops or training sessions in science for interested teachers.  These workshops could be mini classes on the topics that the teachers need to teach and could include examples of hands on projects.  I've been inquiring about doing this as part of the Act 89 (?) in-service learning requirement for teachers.  I wasn't aware of the collaborative group or I would have contacted you guys sooner about this.  In any case, I am interested and willing to contribute to enhancing science education in our local schools, at all grade levels.

I wanted to let you know that I am interested in working with your group.  I am certified to teach K-12 Health and Physical Education.  Also, you may remember me from the Science Fair last year...my students learned about the chemistry of Gatorade.  Jessica L. Pentz

I could present on Movement, Dance, and Creativity or some related topic.   Eleanor Weisman

I'd like to work with high school students, staging a play surrounding gun violence or sexual diversity.  (I have a handful of potential titles--very powerful pieces.) I'm also interested in teaching modern/contemporary American drama. Mark Cosdon

I am the new women's soccer coach at Allegheny College. Previously I taught 8th grade science in Massachusetts. Coming from a family that has quite a few teaches and values public education, I was hoping to institute a reading program in one of the local elementary schools. I was hoping to involve my team and have the program evolve throughout my tenure here. If you have any contacts or information, I would enjoy any opportunity to discuss them with you
Mike Webber

You can put me down as being interested in establishing internships and facilitating student research projects.

Cheers

At any rate, I'd be happy to collaborate via the College/Schools Collaborative. I have already done work with Crawford Central on the PennDOT project, and will do this again this coming year. Last year I met with all the 7th grade classes in the district and this year I will do a series of visits and collaborate with the art teacher at West End School.

I would be happy to work with teachers on developing curriculum for place-based education, conversations about how to integrate the arts into any curriculum, and nearly anything that has to do with the Meadville, PA: Not Your Run of the Mill Community project.

Wearing a different hat, I'd also be happy to talk to teachers and administrators about working with special needs children, especially those with Down syndrome or those who have sensory issues, or language delays. I have amassed a wealth of information in my work with Satchi...and am happy to help others in anyway I can!

Hope that provides what you need.

One suggestion for the comments posted on the link provided. I wondered it it would be informative to folks at Crawford Central to have title information for the folks who have posted willingness to work.  Eg, it might help for folks to know I am a Professor of Art, Director of CEED, and Project Director for the Arts & Environment Initiative, and that I have a special needs child. Or that Ron Cole is a Geology professor, etc.
