Algae, Plankton, & Aquatic Plants Activities Cattail Checkup Students investigate cattail structure and learn about adaptations. Competing for Food Students model how food availability can limit numbers of the animals that feed on that food Micro Odyssey Students draw microorganisms that they observe in pond water and learn about their roles in the aquatic ecosystem. Sinking Slowly Students design plankton models in a contest to see which design sinks the slowest, exploring plankton physical adaptations. Treatment Plants Students observe how wetland plants take in toxins through a demonstration. Water Plant Art Students will explore and identify aquatic plant life and create an artwork using plants.
