        <![CDATA[On January 30 and 31st and Feb. 1st, Allegheny will be participating in <a href="http://www.focusthenation.org/index.php">Focus the Nation</a>, a national teach-in model on global warming issues. This three day event will feature a range of programs and talks on Climate Change including faculty presentations, live music, local foods, <a href="http://www.focusthenation.org/2percentsolution.php">interactive webinar</a>, keynote speaker, and community meeting.  All events are free of charge and open to the public.

On  January 31st, Brian Hill ‘81, President of Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC), and Nancy Cole, Union of Concerned Citizens will present <a href="http://www.pecpa.org/roadmap.htm">Pennsylvania's Roadmap for Climate Change</a>, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Ford Chapel. 

A follow-up community meeting will be held with Hill on February 1st, 1:30pm-2:30pm in the Tillotson Room, Tippie Alumni Center, to develop environmental guiding principles.

The regional partnership of four colleges and universities (including Allegheny College) and four economic development organizations in northwest Pennsylvania was recently awarded the grant by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.         <![CDATA[Students in Professor Amara Geffen's Environmental Art class at Allegheny College have spent the semester working on a proposal for the revitalization of Meadville's Shadybrook Park, which is part of the <a href="http://ceed.allegheny.edu/sc/">Meadville, PA: Not Your Run of the Mill Community project </a>developed by the college's Center for Economic and Environmental Development (CEED). 

The class will share their research and recommendations for these sites, and ask for community feedback and involvement at a community meeting to be held on <strong>Thursday, December 6, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Meadville Area Senior High School</strong>. All interested members of the community are invited to attend the meeting and offer ideas, suggestions, and comments. This program provides internships to help beautify Pennsylvania's neighborhoods and encourage individual stewardship. Eleven communities across the state were awarded internships to implement art & greening projects.  While KPB funded one intern for each of ten communities, Meadville was awarded three interns for the summer!  KPB/CEED interns are working with CEED Director, Professor of Art Amara Geffen, to launch a series of similar projects.  The three interns are working on three community-improving projects this summer including two murals and a garden.         This summer, in support of the  Meadville, PA, Not Your Run of the Mill Community project, CEED has launched four new arts related projects including a rain garden for the empty lot in front of the parking garage by the Market House and three murals to be installed in various locations downtown.  Please join us to discuss these projects, which represent the first in a series of similar projects throughout the city. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 4:30 pm in the Council Chambers at the City Building. CEED invites your suggestions for additional project locations and will share information on how to volunteer for these projects. This residential camp gives students hands-on experience studying biology and freshwater ecology in northwestern Pennsylvania's waterways,. Supported by grants from a number of corporations and foundations, including Bayer and R.K. Mellon, students are studying French Creek, one of the most biodiverse in Pennsylvania, as well as other streams in the watershed.<br />
