-Do you feel pressured to major in a natural science in order to get into medical school?
-Do you feel like you can study abroad at Allegheny while being on a "pre-health" track?
-Where did you receive most of your guidance during your first year at Allegheny about "pre-health"?

I've been told many times by many people that med schools don't care what your major is, but that they sometimes even prefer non-science majors because that shows diversity of interests. I chose to major in Biochemistry simply because science was what I was interested in, not because I felt that I HAD to major in a science.
I had my schedule all planned out to travel abroad- it was definitely do-able, but I chose not to for other reasons.
During my first year I got most of my guidance from Ms. Peterson and other pre-med students, and by looking online independently. Guidance was not hard to find. Overall I have been very, very happy with my pre-health experience at Allegheny.
One thing I regret is not finding out that I am interested in things other than the natural sciences and Spanish until my Junior year. Allegheny should make it a hard and fast rule that distribution must be completed in the first two years- a suggestion that I didn't abide by because I was SO SURE that I knew what interested me. I could not have been more wrong. (On the other hand, I would not have been able to take the classes that changed my mind as a freshman or sophomore because they were upper levels)
