Advising Meeting
Please set up an advising meeting before the start of registration
for your class. In preparation for this meeting, you will need to
have completed the tentative schedule and four-year plan, described
below.
Tentative Schedule
The schedule must include class numbers and titles, section numbers,
and meeting times. The schedule must be typewritten, and it can be
submitted by e-mail or hard copy.
Four-year Plan
Please download the Excel spreadsheet template (click
here). Complete this form and save it under your name. E-mail
the completed schedule to me before our advising meeting: smurphre@allegheny.edu
APL Paper
Please prepare a short informal essay describing your 'end-game' for
your remaining academic career. What has compelled you to pursue study
in this discipline? What is the motivation behind your choice of minor?
How has your plan changed since last year?
Include your plans (however sketchy or tentative) for life after Allegheny.
What sort of career options are you tossing about? Will you pursue
internships or other experiential study in preparation for your career
while still in college? Don't worry too much about any formal presentation--just
get the thoughts on paper.
Do not submit the paper electronically! Place a hard copy in the basket
by my office door marked "APL Papers".
Due date: The last Friday of spring semester classes.
Failure to meet any deadlines or requirements above will result
in No Credit for the APL
