Jeff received a B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Biology from Allegheny College. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (Physiological emphasis) from West Virginia University. He joined the faculty at Allegheny in 1980. Jeff teaches Physiological Psychology, Foundations of Psychology, Introduction to Neuroscience, Sensation and Perception, Cognitive Neuropsychology, and seminars on physiological mechanisms of animal behavior and neuropsychology.

His research interests include animal models of psychopathology, CNS tissue transplantation, neural correlates of learning and memory, and human psychophysiology. Many of his students senior projects have examined the effects of exposure to neuro- or glia toxins on the viability and function of brain grafts. Jeff Cross lives on a farm in Saegertown with his family, and three English Springer Spaniels. His hobbies include bird dog training, farming for wildlife habitat, and carving and collecting duck decoys.
