Defining Diversity

Diversity is.. hard to define. In general, diversity is used to describe race or ethnicity but diversity is so much more than that. Diversity can also be described as variety. And here in Germany, I have found a lot of variety. There are people with mohawks, mullets, and weird dye jobs on the same train as people who are dressed in solid black suits to go to work, there's the frump and the fashion model as well as young and old. The train is one of my favorite places to observe people and I have found the place with the most interesting things to look at, since the train is one of the most important paths of transportation. It is really interesting to me as well that even though I am on a completely different continent, in a different country but yet I can see similarites between America and Germany, even though we come from completely different ideals, histories, and backgrounds. This is part of diversity, but this made me realize that even though people are diverse and changing, everyone is just a person with their own story. Its important to recognize the similarites more than the differences to ensure a better connection in the world.
