Defining Diversity

The dictionary defines diversity as "a respect in which things differ." Honestly, that seems as though it is quite vague, however, upon thinking about it, it seems as though its hard to define it any other way. For me, at least. I think that my recent trip to Berlin has proved that even further. While Cologne is quite diverse, it is not nearly so diverse as Berlin. While walking through the streets of Berlin on a normal day, a person can very likely hear at least ten different languages. Therefore, ethnic diversity exists. One can also experience diversity specifically within the German population while in Berlin. That is to say that there is ideological diversity. Even though the Berlin wall came down in 1990, there are still traces of East and West mentalities. And of course, as it is Berlin, there is evidence on every corner of the diversity which has taken place throughout history. I think that it is safe to say that Berlin is a city of change, and with that change inevitably comes diversity.
