Albert Einstein
The Einstein House in Bern. Einstein lived in a flat on the second floor of
Kramgasse No. 49 in Bern from 1903 to 1905. The flat is open to the public (1
Apr 07 -30 Sep 07) Mon - Sun, 10:00-17:00. It seems to be fairly close to the
train station. Charles Tanford and Jacqueline Reynolds in their The Scientific
Traveler: A Guide to the People, Places & Institutions of Europe (John
Wiley & Sons, 1992) really like this place. They say “We need more
places like this in the world.” We will come into Bern after leaving Germany,
stay two nights, and see Einstein House and other places in Bern the next day,
and then go on to Italy from there.
