A sparkling comedy about student life, in which a young King and his friends renounce the world as they pledge to study and fast for three years' time. Soon, a Princess and her ladies come calling on official business, throwing the men into a panic. Add a rustic clown or two, a Spanish Knight, a country wench and a pedantic Professor to the confusion, and voilà! An evening of exquisite poetry and foolish love, with a touch of humility, ensues. One of Shakespeare's most delicate and poignant comedies.
