Please read this page if you are in
need of a letter of recommendation from me.
If you would like me to write a recommendation for you, please
ask me if I am able to do it at least three weeks before your earliest deadline.
If I am able to write for you, then you must waive your right
to read the letter. This is a condition that I impose on everyone and its
really in your best interest since the reader of your letter won't take it
seriously otherwise.
If I am able to write a letter for you, then the letter cannot
be sent with the rest of your application (even if requested by the instructions
of your application). I will send it directly to the intended recipient.
If I am able to write on your behalf, then please get the following
to me (in hardcopy) at least two weeks before your earliest deadline:
- A list of all of the places you are applying to, with deadlines, in
order of deadlines.
- A copy of your Allegheny College transcript.
- A copy of the statement of purpose from your application (if you are
required to write one).
- A copy of your c.v., resume, or list of activities (if you have such
a document).
- Any additionaly forms I am expected to fill out.
- Envelopes (obtained from the Mathematics Department secretary) with
the Mathematics Department return address, appropriately addressed to
the intended recipient. If the recommendation is to be submitted electronically,
please provide explicit instructions about how this is to be achieved.
