Actuarial Studies

Students who are interested in becoming actuaries should introduce themselves to Dr. Lo Bello as soon as possible after their arrival at Allegheny. They should take the following sequence of mathematics courses: 160, 170, 210, 345, 346. Strong students may take Mathematics 345 concurrently with Mathematics 210.

Several of our alumni have gone on to careers with the major actuarial companies. Some return regularly to campus to conduct interviews for their firms. Two 2003 graduates earned perfect scores on the Preliminary Actuarial Examinations at the end of their junior year at Allegheny.
