Love is....Me and My Brand: Converse
This converse advertisement distinctly presents how the consumer is supposed to love the brand of Converse shoes. The shoes are presented as an object of affection through the visual presentation of the heart that is in the middle of the circle. This heart is white which I think represents love in a different way than other advertisements: a white heart is more associated with friendship and is cute whereas a red heart would be more passionate and romantic. The white heart is also drawn with chalk and that carries the fun, fresh, and youthful vibe that the ad is trying to achieve. Their representation of love for the Converse shoes is one associated with girly-ness, youth, and friendship. The people forming the circle of Converse lovers look like young female teenagers who are wearing their Converse to convey not only their individuality, but that they still all love each other as friends and have fun together. I don't think that the message of love contrasts with how the people are acting in the ad-despite being able to only see their feet and ankles, these models convey the love of Converse as fun and fresh as well as a way to express your individuality-and this encourages more girls to be attracted to Converse shoes.
