Student Short Papers
1. Analysis of Lee Jeans Ad Campaign (Australia) using Gaze Theory (Zack Rearick, spring 2007): Students in the Media Criticism course (COMRT 220) were asked to analyze the campaign utilizing the theories of the gaze they had studied, while attempting to add theoretical and critical insights of their own.
2. Analysis of Website as Popular Culture Artifact (Jackie Conrad, fall 2007): Students in the Media & Cultural Theory course (COMRT 365) were assigned to examine the Postsecret website and analyze its significance in terms of what it reflects about American culture at this particular moment.
3. Media Case Study: Al Jazeera English (Jaclyn Spirer, fall 2006): Students in the Topics in Communication: Television Studies (COMRT 275) course chose a particular media outlet to analyze in terms of how it was shaping/altering the media landscape.
