The Carnegie 105 Maytum Multimedia Classroom
Has been created through the gifts from Robert Maytum '34, Robert A. Maytum '59, and Marilyn Schweitzer Maytum '57

Student learning is enhanced through integrating technology into the curriculum made possible through funding provided by the Maytum Foundation. Renovations were completed by January 2001 in the Carnegie 105 Maytum Multimedia Classroom. The newly remodeled room provides a cozy "study environment" for students and has been recently decorated with a beautiful array of Renoir and Monet prints donated by Sandy Cherapovich, owner of Art Works Custom Framing, Chestnut Street, Meadville. Michele Hunter of Educational Computing at Allegheny College served as the Project Manger including the planning, designing, remodeling, and installation of equipment through completion of "Carnegie 105 Maytum Multimedia Classroom".

The Carnegie 105 Maytum Multimedia Classroom includes 20 student computer workstations, and a lectern computer. The room also includes a motorized projection screen and a projector, which switches between a computer image from the lectern computer or laptop, VCR, DVD, or ceiling document camera, which can show images from text books, handouts or transparencies. Also the podium computer includes specialized software called SynchronEyes which can display any of the images from the 20 student computers onto the projection screen.

A specially designed Maytum screen saver is displayed on every computer in the Maytum Multimedia Classroom to inform users of our great gratitude to the Maytum family for their generous gift toward learning at Allegheny College.

The Maytum Multimedia Classroom is used in a variety of ways to enhance student learning. To review how faculty are using the room go to the faculty review page.
