Writing Center Director:

Ann Bomberger

Pictured here at the Chimaera-- a cluster of natural, continuously-burning fires in Turkey that have inspired writers for centuries to spin tales of fire-breathing monsters -- Ann Bomberger began directing Allegheny's Writing Center several years ago after a year teaching at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. Before moving to Turkey, Dr. Bomberger taught at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she developed her current interest in the use of technology in writing instruction. She also studies the ways that race and racism shape the lives of white women.

Dan Slowey

Dan Slowey is a Junior who is a Math/Spanish double-major from Upper St. Clair, PA. If you could see the rest of this picture, it would show his roommate Brian Root dressed as a woman for Halloween. Brian says that using the writing center's resources is a great way to become a better writer, and he is pretty trustworthy, so stop down soon.

Brea Whitehair

Pictured here in her favorite outfit at Snowbird Resort, Utah, Brea Whitehair is a self-professed "ski-aholic." As well as skiing as much as humanly possible each winter, Brea enjoys playing soccer and softball, horseback riding, experiencing the Great Outdoors and spending time with friends and family. She also prides herself on always being up-to-date on her favorite soap, Days of Our Lives. A senior double majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology, Brea is following the pre-med track and hopes to one day become a physician. Brea is a native of Wattsburg, PA, which is a little cow-town approximately 40 minutes north of Meadville, somewhat near Erie.

Tutors:

Eric Bland	Hey, my name is Eric Bland and I'm a writing tutor. I tend to spend most of my time playing soccer or in soccer related activities, but during the few breaks I get from the sport I like to travel, hike and backpack. In between all my thrilling activities I manage to do a little bit of school work, mainly in the realms of Biology and English, both of which I am trying to major in (ask me again when I'm comping in a few years). For those people interested, I am also a sophomore and am from Fort Wayne, IN.
Abby Collier	Hello...my name is Abby, and I'm a senior at Allegheny. I'm so happy to be done comping so that I can enjoy my last semester! This is my third year as a tutor for the Writing Center. I'm also the editor-in-chief of The Campus newspaper. I hope to go to graduate school next year, and I'd like to pursue a career as an editor in the book publishing industry and as a freelance writer. I'm just a small town girl waiting to be rescued by big city life.

Jaimee Wolbert	Hi! My name is Jaimee Wolbert and I am from Clarion, PA. I am a junior at Allegheny, so this is my second year as a writing tutor. Nicole Yelich	Hello!! I'm Nicole Yelich and a senior here at good ol' Allegheny. I am double majoring in English and Women's Studies. I like writing and I love people, so if you have any problems writing a paper, come on down to the drop in center during my hours. I'll be more than happy to help you out! A little bit more about me....I'm from Pittsburgh, I love hugs, puppy dogs, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, Dave Matthews Band, and the color purple!
