More News and Information The Women's Studies program has scheduled many events for the coming yearthe Women's Studies Film Series, lectures, guest speakers, and more. WOMEN IN SCIENCE FORUM (4/2-4/3) On Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3, The Natural Science Division and the Women's Studies Program of Allegheny College will host a forum titled: Women in Science, Changes and Opportunities. The tone of the forum will be celebratory in recognition of the successes of female Allegheny College graduates who have pursued careers in the sciences, as well as optimistic about the changes occurring in the last few decades making it more comfortable for women to pursue scientific careers. This forum is made possible by a generous gift from Dr. Joan and Mr. Martin Pfinsgraff, funding from Merck/AAAS, and an anonymous gift to the Women's Studies Program. WOMEN AND SCIENCE KEYNOTE ADDRESS (4/2) Dr. Deborah K. Watson '72 will present the Women in Science Forum keynote address, titled "Women and Science: Negotiating the Journey," on Friday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m. in Carr Hall room 200. Dr. Watson received a BS degree from Allegheny College in Chemistry in 1972, and she received a Ph.D. from Harvard. She is currently a Professor of Physics at the University of Oklahoma. The keynote address will be held in Carr 200 and is open to the public. WOMEN IN SCIENCE ROUNDTABLE (4/3) On Saturday April 3, 1:30-3:30 p.m. there is a Women in Science Forum roundtable discussion titled Finding Success in Your Career and Life Goals. Each member of the panel will give a short presentation and this will be followed by a question and answer period. The roundtable discussion will be held in Carr 200 and will be open to the public. Save Women's Lives: March for Freedom of Choice Nicole Yelich (class of 2003) is working as the WPA Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator of NARAL-PA. She is organizing support and participation for the upcoming Save Women's Lives: March for Freedom of Choice in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, April 25, 2004. NARAL PA will provide round-trip transportation at a nominal fee for everyone who registers to attend. For more information, email Nicole at n_yelich@hotmail.com.
