February 2, 2007 will live on as a day of infamy for the Allegheny Outing Club as a record setting 172 students braved the frigid 9 degree temperature and negative wind chill factor to have an Xcellent time at Avalanche Xpress. After cramming all 172 people onto 2 school buses, the crew left the College, singing songs on the way to the hill. The group arrived at Whispering Pines, waited in line, and received their tubing passes. Next, everyone picked up a snow tube and finally had the chance to shoot themselves down a track at record-breaking speeds of possibly 40 mph. Undoubtedly, the tubers proved that they were tough enough to have a great time despite the sub zero weather.
