Fall Break
Shenandoah National Park

On Friday, October 14, 2005, after a 6+ hour drive, the Outing Club reached the Tulip Tree Cabin in Luray, Virginia. Before the group was able to rest, they hiked .5 miles to a cabin tucked away in the woods. Feeling refreshed the next morning, the backpackers hiked from the cabin to the cars and drove to the entrance of the Shenandoah National Park. They were ready to begin a 3 day, 2 night backpacking adventure. Although the group started late on Saturday, they completed a difficult hike of approximately 8 miles and set up camp for the night next to a stream. The following morning, the group packed their gear and hiked about 9 miles in beautiful weather, passing overlooks with incredible views before setting up camp Sunday night. On Monday morning the backpackers woke up refreshed, but decided to make it short hike and head back to Allegheny. Finally, the group exited the trailhead where they began on Saturday, loaded their gear, and stopped at the visitor center to acquire a few souvenir items before heading home.
