are not available. The following are brief descriptions of courses and programs
available at the University of Haifa.
Courses for

levels, Modern and Spoken Arabic courses.

Studies: Contemporary Israel, Arab-Israel Relations, Ethnic Groups in Israel,
History of the Jews in the Lands of Islam, and History of the Middle East.

Studies: Philosophy of Jewish Thought, Faith and Heresy in Judaism, The
Jew in the Modern World: 1750-1948, Jewish History 1492-1942, Biblical Studies,

Introduction to Maritime Archaeology, Introduction to Biblical Archaeology,

Programs
for a year, a semester (fall or spring) or a summer term:

The Internship
Program: Internships provide on site-work experience under university supervision
for academic credits.

Volunteer
Program: Working with new immigrants and social, medical and educational
services.

The International
Summer Hebrew Ulpan: This is an intensive five and nine week Hebrew language
course for beginning through advanced level students. Taught by an exceptional
staff of language teachers, the summer ulpan combines twenty hours of classroom
work per week with trips to historical and recreational sites in northern
and central Israel.

Summer Courses:
Contemporary Israel, Maritime Archaeology Research Seminar, La culture israelienne
(for French speaking students).

Extra-Curricular
Activities: the Department of Overseas Studies offers an extensive program
of trips, tours and a special lecture series in addition to all the on-campus
activities of the University Students Association.
