Things
to remember...
- If you find a
course in the program material that is not listed below, stop by the
International Office. We will provide you with the forms necessary to
obtain the Allegheny course equivalency.
- Courses taken on
this program are listed as University of Tübingen transfer credit
on the Allegheny transcript; only courses with a grade of "C"
and above will transfer; program grades are NOT factored into your Allegheny
GPA.
- Courses that have
multiple equivalencies indicate cross-listings only; courses cannot
be counted twice for graduation requirements.
- Courses offered
by the "International Sprachprogramme(ISP)" , the 'School
for Foreign Students" may be found at http://www.uni-tuebingen.de/ABZ/english/abz_engl.htm
- In general, courses
taken in Tübingen, whether they are ISP courses or regular university
courses, are eligible for GER equivalencies that will fulfill major
or minor requirements at Allegheny IF THEY ARE TAUGHT IN GERMAN.
- Student who are
taking courses in an academic discipline other than German may obtain
Allegheny equivalencies in the appropriate departments at Allegheny
(e.g., Cell Biology would transfer as a BIO course). Students
who take courses that do not fit into an Allegheny academic department,
but which are appropriate for a liberal arts curriculum, must check
with the International Office prior to registering for the course in
Germany, to make sure the course can fit into one of the general divisional
categories available for sponsored programs (Social Science OTE, Natural
Science OTE, Humanities OTE). Subjects that fall into theses categories
include Anthropology, Geography, or languages not generally taught at
Allegheny.
- **Credit
is not normally given for a Vorlesung, unless it involves an individualized
tutoring situation with examination. Students must arrange that tutoring
with the instructor at the beginning of the course.
- Allegheny has adopted
the following grading scale: 1-2 in Tübingen = A at Allegheny College
3 in Tübingen = B at Allegheny College 4 in Tübingen = C at
Allegheny College
Students may use the
following chart as a guideline for determining the number of courses they
will take. However, students are strongly encouraged to contact (email)
the German Section Head once in Germany to verify final course choices. |
