Alden Hall

Named in honor of the college's founder, Timothy Alden, the present structure was built on the foundation of the first Alden Hall (1905), which was destroyed by fire in Janury 1915. Today, Alden Hall houses the Geology and Computer Science Departments and serves as the regional depository for topographical maps published by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Bousson Environmental Research Reserve

"Bousson" is 283 acres of college-owned property near campus that is used for field labs and independent students and faculty research projects. The tract features diverse habitats, land uses, hydrology, and geology as well as several different types of hydrologic monitoring equipment, including groundwater wells.

Computers

The Geology Department has a computer lab that includes workstation-class PC machines for use by students and faculty in research and course assignments. A Geographic Information System workstation is equipped with a full-size digitizing tablet. Peripherals include an HP 755CM color roll plotter, HP flatbed scanner, Nikon slide scanner, HP color and b/w laser printer, CD/DVD writers, and image analysis equipment. A wide array of current graphics, database, scientific plotting, and presentation software is maintained. Also available on campus is a Geological Information System lab with 12 workstations.
