French Table

Speak French over lunch at Brooks Dining Hall on Mondays and Thursdays from noon to one p.m. Meet the French assistant, students in other classes, and the French professors.


French House

Live in a college-owned interest house with French spoken in the common areas. Join the French assistant and three other students in organizing programs for all students held at the French House including: dinners, films, Mardi Gras, and other events celebrating French and Francophone cultures. Applications due in late February.


French Assistant

Become friends with the French assistant, a college-age male or female student from France who works in the department providing tutoring assistance, conversation practice, and organizing programs for the French House.


Language Learning Center

Take advantage of the collection of CD-ROMs, DVDs, videotapes, and other software for French. Write class assignments using a word processor combined with writing assistance for composing in French.


International Film Series

View recent releases, often prize-winners, during the International Film Series held on Thursday evenings during March.


Foreign Language Honor Society

Join Phi Sigma Iota, the International Foreign Language Honor Society with over 300 chapters in the U.S. To qualify, you must have declared a major or minor in a foreign language, achieved an average of 3.2+ in language courses (including at least one 300-level course), and a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.0.


Teaching French

Find employment in the department as a teaching or laboratory assistant. Try your hand at teaching conversational French to elementary school children in an after-school program organized by the department.
