About the Author
My name is Michelle Logut and I am the author of this website. I am a senior at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. I will graduate in May of 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Studies and a concentration in Community Development and Land Use. I also have a double minor in Mathematics and Psychology. The Park Design and Mill Run Restoration for the Meadville Medical Center is part of my senior comprehensive project that is required for my graduation.
During my junior year, I decided that I wanted to construct a small, urban park in Meadville for my senior project. I began locating parcels of land in town that were suitable for a city park. Then I discovered an article published by the Meadville Tribune which stated that the Meadville Medical Center had recently purchased an adjacent piece of land which contained the abandoned Coca Cola Bottling Plant. The article revealed that the hospital was planning on constructing a park on a portion of the newly purchased land. I immediately contacted Andrew Masse, the Project Engineer for the hospital. Andy and I decided to work together on the park development and we also decided to restore the portion of Mill Run that flows through this area. I began working on this project in the summer of 2003 and continued my work for the duration of the 2003-2004 school year. This website is the compilation of all the work I have done in this time period.
