Welcome!
"The way to do something is to start doing it and learn from it"
~Myles Horton

Recall those days in school... when the teacher stood in front of the classroom and presented lecture after lecture that always seemed so endless and boring. Now remember the favorite class or teacher you ever had. Chances are, you recalled a class or a teacher that gave you the opportunity to fully engage in the learning process, unlike those monotonous lectures. Just like any other learning experience, environmental education calls for an actively engaging learning opportunity that will have a lasting influence on people.
This website introduces the concept of popular education to an environmental action workshop for Japanese adults. This workshop is planned to be added to the course line-up at Mie Prefecture Environmental Education Information Center located in the city of Yokkaichi, Mie prefecture, Japan. While the focus is on Japanese adults, much of the content throughout the website is useful to anybody who seeks an alternative teaching style for environmental education in any country or culture.
