Elizabeth H. Kennon '01
Financial Analyst
Federated Investors, Incms Jr.
"I have worked since graduation as a financial analyst with Federated Investors, a mutual fund company in Pittsburgh. I participate in the company budget process and perform financial analyses on projects ranging from new product offerings to proposed sales initiatives to the profitability of client relationships. Many of my co-workers have strictly finance backgrounds, but because I was exposed to finance, accounting, management and traditional economic theory in the Managerial Economics track at Allegheny, I feel that I have a more well-rounded understanding of the business. Most jobs involve a specialization that can only be learned on the job, so it is much more important to leave college with a broader knowledge of multiple aspects of the business world rather than a more specialized degree in Finance or Accounting. I have found that a liberal arts degree can lead to immediate success in the professional world."

Associate Attorney
Kirkpatrick & Lockhart
"Following graduation I went on to law school at Cornell University, where I graduated cum laude in 1996. The experience of writing and defending my two Allegheny comps proved invaluable during law school, where there is a premium placed on speaking in class. My strong economic and math background have proved invaluable in my practice with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, where I have to be able to interpret corporate financial statements to measure damages and economic loss."

Chairman/President/CEO
Ocwen Financial Corporation
"Allegheny afforded me a somewhat cloistered environment in which to slowly mature into a young adult. Along the way, I improved my ability to focus in terms of study habits and critical reasoning. Obviously, others thought that you did an exceptional job considering the talent with which you were forced to work. I was accepted immediately upon graduation into Harvard Business School.
GO GATORS!"
