Yeah, the title doesn't make sense unless you are picking up on the John Lennon lyrics. But, this is a continuation of last week's post about resources available from off-campus "getting you through the night".
The rest of the resources are a little more self-explanatory.
Webmeet is your calendar, from off campus. The nice thing about webmeet, is that unlike webmail, it's a live look at your real calendar. If you update something via webmeet, it updates on your calendar, it updates other people's calendars. It acts (and for the most part, looks) just like MeetingMaker from your office.
Informer and WebAdvisor are both windows into the Datatel system that are available interchangeably on and off-campus. Similarly, other web based systems like Sakai (learning management) and Scheduler (room reservation) are available the same way.
And if you do your FTP backup, you can get to your files from off campus and away you go!

Just to put in an additional word for Sakai.
It is not limited to course sites. It is also designed to handle any collaborative endeavor through project sites.
User Services is using a Sakai project site to store files, keep notes, and document procedures in a secure site that provides access from everywhere.
If you are interested in learning more shoot me an email and I can connect you to the resources and people that can get you started.

Mandy--
Check out the link above regarding FTP backup, which links back to a prior post about how I have FTP setup from home. Since I know you are a Firefox fan, FireFTP could be just the ticket for you.
James--
Thanks for mentioning the alternate uses for Sakai. Sometimes the best uses of technology come about when we say, "Okay, we built this great thing for that. Now, what else could we use it for?"

I'm really excited about this FireFTP. I havent been a fan of the free ftp software I've downloaded for home use so this could be the ticket. Thanks!

Jason,
Thanks for the info...if I would have read the previous post more carefully, I might have been able to figure it out for myself!
