Color Chart

Each vertical row of four samples in the chart was made from a different paint from the supply list. The top sample is a transparent glaze. The second is the color mixed with white, which is called a tint of the hue. The third is the pure hue, direct from the tube. The bottom sample is the color mixed with black, which is called a shade of the hue.

Mixing such a chart familiarizes us with the pigments on the supply list, provides some experience mixing and applying paints and serves as an introduction to the vocabulary of color.
